Technique Week Day 4!

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Welcome to Day 4 of Technique Week at my blog and YouTube Channel. I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s projects, you can see them here and here. Today is a project and a video tutorial for my tips on gaining success with watercoloring an embossed image. Once embossed, the stamped lines act as a wall to keep the fluid inside or out, whichever direction is holding the fluid. Let’s take a look at how this works.

Another creative technique I hope you will try- watercoloring an embossed image

When getting a first look at this stamp set in the new catalog, I knew it would be perfect for this technique! There is a distinct difference between the loose look of watercoloring and watercoloring an embossed image. Once heat embossed, the stamped lines of the image become a sort of wall to trap fluid either inside that area of the image or outside.

This process allows me to color an area, such as the platypus’s hat or jacket, and know the color added to that area will not spread. Colors will react to water ONLY in the areas inside that wall. What could be better for coloring inside the lines?
