Hello and thanks for stopping by to check out today’s project. I’m playing with a set of very pretty colors today, in a lattice patterned ombre card. This beautiful color combo is bright and bold and honestly a little overwhelming for my taste In order to tone the colors down, I let them blend together and fir into a patterned design with the help of a paper panel.

measurements for this project
Whisper White Thick card stock card base: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Watercolor paper layer: 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut paper panel: 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
Whisper White & Basic Black card stock scraps for die cuts and sentiment
How do you like this color combination? Sometimes I shy away from a certain bold color combo, if not for participating in a cardmaking challenge. This combo is the color challenge at the Global Design Project this week and it really pushed me to explore how to best suit it into my own style of crafting. After playing with this panel of watercolor paper and a Sponge Brayer, I began to see the colors blend beautifully from light and cheerful to deep and sultry. The white panel created with Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut paper helps to build this lattice patterned ombre card into something I can work with, lol.
The “love” die in Sunshine Wishes Framelits is created by stacking up 4 die cuts, adhered with liquid glue. The black sentiment strip helps to build the sentiment enough to stand out in this busy design. Have you created with a Sponge Brayer? It’s one of my go-to techniques when my brain is scrambled with which design flow to follow. Here is a video for another project I created that explains how the process works with a brayer 🙂
