Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Today is the World Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop, where we are creating projects with a theme to help bring information and awareness to you. Below are links to all of the blogs in this Hop, showing more ideas, as well as a link that will allow you to donate directly to the Organization for Autism Research.
If you are new to cardmaking, crafting or blog hops, here’s how it works:
-a group of blogs are linked to form a chain that share a common theme
-cardmaking and crafting are more of a passion for some and we craft as a creative outlet while providing a craft to share with someone in our lives. Being passionate about people as well, we are helping to spread awareness through our crafting
-many of the projects linked today are created using products from Stampin’ Up! , who is a premier supplier of crafting supplies to the public and crafting community
World Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop
Crafting for a Cause; Autism
If you are new to my blog, I’d like to share something about myself. I am a mom of two young boys, both living on the Autism Spectrum. It seems the more I meet new people, I learn there are so many more people living with Autism than are diagnosed or is the general public more aware of. Bringing light to the world, individuals with autism are unique and special people. They often are extremely caring and have “super powers” that would be hard for some individuals. My youngest son is able to totally manage up to 5 tasks at one time and handle them well, while my oldest son has the most remarkable memory and compassion that I have ever known. I often craft for them, their caregivers at school and other individuals that lend support.
Here is a link to allow you to donate directly to the Organization for Autism Research, in an effort to assist individuals living with autism and bring more awareness, in support of World Autism Awareness Day.
a few things you can learn and support those with autism are:
measurements for this project
Whisper White Thick card stock card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Whisper White card stock panel: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Watercolor paper panel: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ + vellum scraps for stamping
Watercolor Smooshing Technique
I’m a big fan of easy to complete projects and having a technique that both easy and fun is fantastic! Watercolor smooshing is a technique that is created by dabbing a stamp pad onto a non-porous surface (I’ve used a Silicone Craft Sheet), then diluting the ink with water before “smooshing” a piece of watercolor paper into the ink. The results are incredible and there are never two cards made the same. After the smooshing was dry, I added the panel to more card stock and added the words “you are the extra in my ordinary”, from So Many Shells stamp set. My boys are the extra in my ordinary and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Here is a list of participants in the Blog Hop, I encourage you to visit all of the amazing projects!
Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card project. Links are here that you can click to get product info and purchase items, at no additional cost to you, as well. Thank you for your support with your purchase
Having more ways to create a focal point on your project can make a project work for you. I hope you like this project and will come back to visit often! Thanks for stopping by today.
