Picked for You with Watercolor

Hello and thanks for stopping by to check out today’s new papercraft project. This week the WWYS Challenge is stamping with Picked For You stamp set. Isn’t the apple image unique? I like making fun color choices with my stamping to give a whimsical feel to the project. I also added in a few left over die cuts from the August Paper Pumpkin kit that was filled with gorgeous die cuts in green and white Vellum. I created the apple with a fun technique I’d like to share with you, let’s check it out!

Tip for a Layering Stamp

When getting a first look at this stamp set, I knew it would be a challenge- a fun challenge but none the less a challenge. There are FOUR steps to getting the apple stamped. WHOA! That is a lot of precision placement and color selection. The Stamparatus really helped in this project and when you try to duplicate it (as I hope you will), please use a stamping tool to help with placement of the stamps. The colors are equally important in this project as well.

There is always a lot of buzz in the stamping community about what order layering stamps are put to paper. Thankfully, Stampin’ Up!® has numbered this stamp set and given really great hallmarks as to the direction of placement. I took Picked For You out for a test drive before making the project you see now, and it was educational to say the least. There are many different color tones in one single apple and this orb also will show many highlights and shadows. My suggestion is to play around with getting used to how the stamps line up and use a few fun color combos. In the Video Tutorial, I show one of the examples I used (for a red apple) to learn the color arrangement that works best. This project settled with Granny Apple Green in two of the images and Pineapple Punch for the image with the highlights. After each color application, I used the Aqua Painter to muddle the color and soften the harsh stamped line. This, my friends, was the key to success in getting the apple to look more realistic.
