Hello and thanks for stopping by to check out today’s new papercraft project. The new 2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog is here and filled with great possibilities. New in the catalog is the Serene Garden Bundle. I used this beautiful new stamp and die set to create a Layering Circles Double Z fold box card. Fancy folds are always a wow card, aren’t they? It makes it extra special when I send them to someone to brighten their day.

Fancy fold cards are not always a giant undertaking but they can be intimidating. Here is how I approach each project; the finished card will fit into a standard envelope, so…… it can’t be too big a project for me to tackle. Putting it into perspective is a big help. Plus, Bronwyn’s tutorials are really easy to follow, step by step and loads of photos.
I created a card last week that is much similar to this card but this is a more stepped up version. Instead of a die cut bird in the box area, there is a fussy cut cluster of florals and lots of other florals scattered around the project. I worked at it in stages, first cutting the paper and then coloring the images. Each time, with smiles and grins because the Serene Garden stamp set is wonderful 🙂 . If you have not yet laid eyes on this stamp set, the drawn images are amazing!
Be sure to check out the modified tutorial I have written for creating a Double Z Fold card over at AddINKtive Designs, using the Layering Circles dies.
Tips for this project
This Layering Circles Double Z fold box card design is perfect when I want to send a card that will be more than a card. Extremely sturdy and standing on it’s own, it really makes a statement.
The floral images are colored with an Aqua Painter and ink from stamp pads. Simple coloring on the die cuts.
Did you spot a new ink color? Granny Apple Green is gorgeous and really stands out in the project. The background is colored in Soft Sea Foam.
The tops of the project are die cut with Layering Circles Framelits dies and are partial die cuts.
