Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Today is the July OSAT Blog Hop, with the theme of “Creature Comforts”. Our members will create projects that feature an animal, sharing new ideas along the way. Below are links to all of the blogs in this Hop, showing loads of papercraft ideas. I have chosen to create a card and gift bag with a cute little bear and galaxy/constellation theme.

Galaxy Watercolor shaker card
I’m very excited when you ask me to demonstrate a particular technique. While formulating ideas, I try to fit them into a project I am working on for a design team. With the theme of today’s post being animals, I grabbed A Little Wild stamp set. The front of this bear is a cutie but the back is fantastic. It’s not often we get to stamp and color the back side of an image, right? This bear is watercolored, concentrating shadows on the side that is away from the light source. To ground the image, a bit of scribbled shadows fall in the same direction as the light source.
My favorite feature of the project is the background inside the shaker area. It was by far the most time consuming part of the project but well worth it. The constellations are stamped with Little Twinkle stamp set and embossed in white before any color is added to the Watercolor paper. Once the color hits the paper, it rolls away from the embossing. There are several shades of blue, a little pink and some black that all work together to give shadows and depth. The sentiment is also heat embossed but on Window Sheet acetate! Yes, you CAN emboss on plastic but need to be cautious.

Twinkle Twinkle DSP Gift Bag
Completing my gift set is a very simple gift bag with the Gift Bag Punch Board.
Another stamped and watercolored bear created the gift tag for the bag and tied the two projects together. The constellation theme also appears on the paper to create the bag and is from the Twinkle Twinkle DSP pack. As a clean looking ruffle on the top of the bag, I glued on a strip of paper that was first punched out with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch. Polka Dot ribbon and Silver Mini Sequin Trim give a bit of sparkle and femininity to the bag.
