Bendi Card Tutorial

Hello and thanks for stopping by to check out today’s new papercraft project. This week the WWYS Challenge is stamping with Dashing Deers stamp set. I really like how well the images adapt themselves into an easy design. Christmas card making season is here and I’m looking for new ways to make special cards for family and friends. I thought a bendi card tutorial would be just the right thing for the Dashing Deer Bundle! Also, be sure to grab this bundle while it is still 10% off… the discount won’t last.

Bendi card with Dashing Deer Bundle

My kids love a fancy fold card, and especially one with glitter! I’ve very happy to create with the Stampin’ Up!® Sparkle Glimmer paper as it doen’t shed. And it holds up really well in this bendi card tutorial. Can you see the illusion of snow banks?

While doing research on this fold, I found many different ways to create bot only the card base, but also the bendi flaps. Taking my own design, I’ve found what works best for me and you know what? It’s really an easy card for as fancy as it looks! The Dashing Deer stamp set is exactly what i had in mind for this fold. The images look very tranquil backed by the sparkling snow and clear winter night sky. If you would like to see a video demonstration of the process, look for the YouTube link below.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cut a card base to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ from white cardstock. Adhere a layer of Twinkle Twinkle dsp, 4″ x 5 1/4″, with SNAIL adhesive.
  2. Cut a piece of Sparkle Glimmer paper to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, then cut it horizontally at the 2 1/2″ mark.
  3. Score the small and larger Glimmer paper at 1/2″ away from the edge on one side. Apply Tear & Tape adhesive and attach the larger piece on the left side of the card base and the smaller piece at the right side of the card base. The 1/2″ scored flap will lay on the back side of the card base.
  4. Create the point, from the opposite cut edge for the insert. I measured 1/4″ in and made a pencil mark, then trimmed away the area to leave pointed area that will slide into the card base. Do this for both flaps (refer to video for more details)
  5. Using the Stampin’ Trimmer, create a cut in the card base for the large flap to attach. The smaller flap is attached to the large flap. (refer to video for detailed instructions). Now try out the bendi by inserting the flaps and make any adjustments.
  6. Stamp 2 deer and die cut, then adhere them to the bendi flaps with Mini Glue Dots.
  7. Assemble the bendi area, then using your best judgement, create a cut contour with Paper Snips. This will give the illusion of snow banks.
  8. Create sentiment and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  9. Die cut 4 flower/snowflakes and add a touch of color with Stampin’ Blends markers. Adhere to the card with liquid glue then add a dot of glue to each center and sprinkle on Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.
  10. Create the back of the card from a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel. Stamp the images and adhere it to the back of the card- careful to only add adhesive around the edge. We want the bendi area to insert and remove freely.

The card is mailed flat, with the bendi area NOT assembled
