Hello and thanks for stopping by today! For the August Be Inspired Blog Hop we are creating projects that are not typical cardmaking projects. I have chosen to use a new product to get a fun Halloween look. When thinking about what sort of project card to create, it was a quick decision to grab the *NEW Toil & Trouble DSP, as there are matching framelits to cut away the images. Check below to find all of the links to the Design Team’s projects, you will love what they have created to share with you!

Creating an Exploding Box card
As the title sounds, this project looks like a box and when the lid is removed… it explodes to reveal a hidden scene. My children are just getting old enough to have fun playing with costumes during the Halloween season and this project is really exciting for them. My oldest son is thinking to dress up as a chef and this year you youngest has a firefighter in mind. We like to keep things lighthearted in our family for this holiday, no scary images in our gifting or decorations. When we browsed the upcoming 2018 Stampin’ Up! (r) Holiday Catalog, the Cauldron Bubble Bundle was tops of our list for creating.
Keeping the design simple for this project was easy. I started with cutting the base from Basic Black cardstock, four units at 3 1/2″ x 7″ and scored each piece at 3 1/2″. This creates the box by overlapping each of the four flaps in the center. Once adhered, I added precut squares of Toil & Trouble DSP cut to 3″, on the inside and outside flaps. The box lid is also Basic Black cardstock that is cut to 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ and scored a scant 1/2″ from each edge. The scant (1/16″) portion will allow the box top to fit nicely over the box itself. There’s another square decorating the top of the box lid and what will be the front flap of the box.
Inside the box is decorated with a few standing DSP images. The Cauldron Framelits are made to cut a few of the Toil & Trouble images which makes it easy for me to add them to a project with no coloring needed. For a sort of kickstand for each image, there is a little scrap of black cardstock that is bent to form an “L”, adhered to the image and to the box base. The cauldron is a little more dimensional, as there are three images folded in half and glued together to form a sort of 3D piece. It’s really a fun project to create and I can imagine making loads of these fro teacher gifts and during the Christmas season.
