Hello and thanks for stopping by today! This week at the Stamp, Ink Paper Challenge there is a special giveaway! The top three picks of this week’s challenge will receive a free stamp set (details below). It’s also a fun theme this week. The Design Team are creating projects with a summer theme. What exemplifies summer to you? To me, it’s the kids that waited all day for the temps to be cool enough that they can go out in the back yard to look at the fireflies.

Jar of Love stamp set
What is the magical attraction of fireflies? I don’t understand it but I feel it. The kids feel it. At the first moments of the evening the fireflies come out here in New Jersey and the magic hour begins. We usually give the kids bubbles to blow or a popsicle to eat outside and just sit and watch them have fun. These magical evenings are the ones we remember. In fact, I remember taking photos of the foster kids we cared for (which I can not show here) and Nate was just a teeny tiny boy. He was just over a year old, not big enough to get out into the yard but at one year old, blowing bubbles are just as great as fireflies for him.
To set the scene of this project, I created a watercolor wash landscape with Balmy Blue, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green and Granny Apple Green. To contain a few of the fireflies, I stamped a jar from Jar of Love stamp set on watercolor paper, then added the bugs. A few flowers beside the jar help carry the colors through the project.
