Double stamping on watercolor paper

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! This week the What Will You Stamp design team are stamping with Rooted in Nature stamp set. Beautifully drawn sayings and images you can style any way you choose. To accent these beautiful images, I double stamped an image on watercolor paper with some really fun results.

Rooted in Nature stamp set

Classic styled images ready to color or die cut, Rooted in Nature is a double stamp set for all seasons.

There are so many images that could be featured in a card, I have a hard time choosing! Instead of letting the image lead the project, I chose to start with the DSP. In keeping the integrity of the “white space” in the project, I chose to create the focal point with strong, earthy colors. The oval is created from watercolor paper. First a very light watercolor wash of Sahara Sand was applied, with higher concentration on the left side area. While the paper was still wet, I stamped the leaf image in Soft Suede ink. At once, the water pulled the ink into many directions. I muddled the image a little more with an Aqua Painter and allowed it to completely dry.

With the same Soft Suede ink, I now stamped the same image but off setting it slightly in the same area. It now appears as a sort of shadow and gives a fun, dimensional quality. The sentiment is stamped on the dry paper as well.
