Autism Matters Blog Hop

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Today is the Autism Matters Blog Hop with the Stampin for Autism Team, where we are creating projects with a theme to help bring information and awareness to you. Below are links to all of the blogs in this Hop, showing more ideas, as well as a link that will allow you to donate directly to the Organization for Autism Research.

If you are new to cardmaking, crafting or blog hops, here’s how it works:

-a group of blogs are linked to form a chain that share a common theme

-cardmaking and crafting are more of a passion for some and we craft as a creative outlet while providing a craft to share with someone in our lives. Being passionate about people as well, we are helping to spread awareness through our crafting

-many of the projects linked today are created using products from Stampin’ Up! , who is a premier supplier of crafting supplies to the public and crafting community

Autism Matters Blog Hop

Many children with autism have a reduced sensitivity to pain but may be extra sensitive to sound, touch, or other sensory stimulation—which may contribute to a reluctance to being cuddled or hugged

Crafting for a Cause; Autism

If you are new to my blog, I’d like to share something about myself. I am a mom of two young boys, both living on the Autism Spectrum. It seems the more I meet new people, I learn there are so many more people living with Autism than are diagnosed or is the general public more aware of. Bringing light to the world, individuals with autism are unique and special people. They often are extremely caring and have “super powers” that would be hard for some individuals. My youngest son is able to totally manage up to 5 tasks at one time and handle them well, while my oldest son has the most remarkable memory and compassion that I have ever known. I often craft for them, their caregivers at school and other individuals that lend support.

Here is a link to allow you to donate directly to the Organization for Autism Research, in an effort to assist individuals living with autism and bring more awareness. Please select Kelly Acheson’s Team.

Autism Support Theme Handmade card

I’m a big fan of easy to complete projects and having great tools to make that happen is a plus! I used the Sunshine & Rainbows theme for this card, paired with the Rainbow Builder Framelits dies.

The card front panel is created from a piece of Whisper White card stock from Stampin’ Up! that is die cut with the Rainbow Builder edgelit dies. The corners were rounded with paper snips to form one giant cloud. To create atmosphere, I flicked one of the Stampin Blends alcohol markers around the panel. The sentiment carries both love and truth.. “You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain”. We have some hard days in our family due to my children’s disabilities but always look for the rainbow 🙂

Next up is my incredible friend Dena Rekow. I encourage you to visit all of the amazing projects!

In answer to many questions, yes I am a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and YES you can join my team. I have a non-geographical team, which means you can live anywhere in the US and participate on my team. I hold monthly meetings via FaceBook LIVE in which you assemble a prepared project. Now is also the best time to join as a hobby demo. It’s a win=win for you !
