Embossed Vellum card | for SIP131

Hello and thanks for stopping by today! Adding an element of heat embossing can bring a fun texture and look to a handmade card. With a stamped image on embossed vellum there are so many outcomes. This project demonstrates three different embossing powders… in one card! Be sure to comment below and let me know which of the three embossing is your favorite.

Lovely Wishes & Heart Happiness stamp sets

The Occasions Catalog starts tomorrow! Inside the catalog are many fantastic products, but I’d like to show you two simple stamp sets. Lovely Wishes stamp set has the image of flowers and leaves with some great sentiments. I like how the sentiments are written, and have used one for this project. Heart Happiness stamp set is perfect for a sweetheart card but let’s look at how else it can be used!

The inspiration for this project was one stamp. The heart shaped circles image remind me of a wood carving. The wood carving would appear on a tree. So… now you see where my head was headed on this design! It reminds me of a tree carving with sweetheart initials, but I used a sentiment instead of initials.

Embossing on Vellum paper

Can you spot all three embossed images? The first is the heart image from Heart Happiness, with white embossing directly onto the DSP. The second area of the heart die cut. It has a white embossed sentiment as well as copper embossing around the outside edge. The third area is the large vellum panel. I used the group of floating hearts stamp from Heart Happiness to add clear embossing powder. Clear embossing adds a subtle look that is very appealing.

A helpful tip when embossing on vellum or DSP, be sure not to overheat the paper and cause scorch marks or warping. I like to move the heat gun from the back and the front of the paper and melt the powder slowly.
