Hello and thanks for stopping by today! In the midst of making loads of Christmas cards, I’d like to share a bit of color therapy with you. Often times to break up the monotony of crafting the same type of card, I will grab a project to color just for the sake of coloring. Fairy Celebration stamp set is perfect as a coloring therapy card.

Fairy Celebration stamp set
Cute, cute, cute! All of the fairies in the Fairy Celebration stamp set are great for coloring with the color tool of your choice. I typically like to watercolor them but decided for a recent coloring class I would use the Stampin Blends markers. Perfect pairing!
Coloring with Stampin’ Blends
There are a few things to remember when coloring with alcohol markers. First is to always stamp with a water based ink, such as Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad, that will prevent the colored image from bleeding into the paper. The basic rule is if you stamp in water based ink – you can color with alcohol and not get any bleeding. The opposite applies for water based coloring, I stamp in an archival ink.
Tips for coloring this image would be to work your way coloring from the top of the image, to the bottom of the image. When markers are wet on the paper, it can bleed onto your hand and then all sorts of crazy things happen! For getting a nice blend in coloring, I start with a medium tone, add in the shadows with a dark tone and blend it back in with the light shade. After coloring, go around the image with a black Journaling Pen to lend a crisp stamped line image. White gel pens are also great to add designs such as stripes and polka dots!
