November Creating Kindness Blog Hop
Welcome to this month’s Creating Kindness Blog Hop. For the month of November we are all featuring projects that have been inspired by friendship or support. I have chosen to create a gift package. I used a brand new tube of lip balm and designed a fashionable holder to keep it safe.

Friendship or Support in Papercrafting
Showing our support through friendship with those for whom we care for is an important part of our lives. I’ve made many dear friendships in my papercrafting journey and cherish each one. For this month’s project I am creating a gift package to hold a small gift for a few friends. We will meet up at the upcoming OnStage in Salt Lake City, Utah for a few days of fun, laughter and friendships and I plan to give several gifts to my lovely friends as a token to show how much I care. I’ve placed a lip balm inside this package but you can fill it with any item you choose. When designing this package, I took inspiration from the very talented Amanda Charlesworth‘s sticky note holder. Thanks for sharing your creativity Amanda!
Creating a Lip Balm Gift Package from Patterned Paper
Score the large piece of DSP as follows:
(long side turned horizontal) score at 2″, 2 1/2″, 5 1/2″, 6″
(turn the paper) and score at 1/2″ along the length of the paper
Fold and snip:
Burnish all of the folds with a bone folder. Distinguish the “top flap” as the longer of the two areas scored from the edge
Snip the over scored areas with Paper Snips, just into the area of the score (watch video for more clarification). This will give a clear view of where we will attach the package.
Snip (or cut) away the extra overhang on the “top flap”, to make it a single piece of paper to come down over the folded area.
Attach the package:
Use liquid glue or Tear-n-Tape to adhere the package where the scored folds overlap.
The bottom of the box first, then the sides. It will be clear now where you should snip away on the flap.
Create the handle:
Score the small DSP at 1/4″ down the length of the paper and burnish with a bone folder.
Pierce a hole with Paper Piercing Tool into the top fold of the package and glue the handle on one side, flush with the edge of the package. Hold it for a few moments and then follow this step with the other side.
After glue is set, use a metal brad or grommet if you like, to give reinforcement to the handle.
Decorate the package:
I used a Velcro circle (self adhesive) to close the flap. First place it on the inside of the flap and then close it don to line up the velcro dots.
On the outside of the flap, place Gold Faceted Gem opposite the Velcro and two small gems on inside of the flap for stability.
Now it’s time to cut a Stitched Square and stamp a sentiment. Adhere to inside of the flap. All done!!
