This week, the Global Design Project challenge is to use a specific design theme in a cardmaking project. The idea is to create a card design that is inspired by winged creatures. To view the projects for this challenge, please visit the Global Design Project page by clicking here
To create this serene looking card, I used Carried Away Designer Series Paper. The rest of the card components were pulled together to match this paper. I love the clean colors and lines of the drawn landscape. The trees and mountains give me a sense of peace.
To meet the specifics of the challenge, I created a banner from a strip of vellum card stock. I then used the bird, nest and eggs stamps from the Swirly Bird that are stamped in gray, and placed near the bottom of the banner. Placing it near the banner but separated just a smidge, brings it into the design and lends a highlight as well.
The sentiment is stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I placed a scrap of white paper behind the sentiment to bring in the eye and reinforce that this is the focal point of the card. A nice coating of Wink of Stella on the cluster of eggs helps to match the shine of the sentiment.
Measurements for this project are:
Thick Whisper White card stock for card base: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (top folded and scored from 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″)
Smoky Slate card stock layer: 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″
Carried Away DSP: 4 3/8″ x 3 1/8″
