Partially embossed card stock panel technique with video

Have you ever wondered exactly how something is made? Maybe you have come up with a new way to make a project? In today’s post I demonstrate how to partially emboss a piece of card stock. No one showed me how to do this, I just needed one piece of paper that had embossing but left an area to do stamping. I see projects where the embossing runs over the stamping and that was not the look I wanted. Is this the way new techniques are created? Necessity is the mother of invention, right?

Measurements for this project are:
A Little Foxy DSP: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
Whisper White layer: 3 3/8″ x 4 5/8″
Whisper White embossed panel: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″
Basic Gray card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ after scored and folded

To do partial dry embossing:

  1. place the card stock into an embossing folder and make the “die machine sandwich layers” from platform, cutting plates and embossing folder. *Note; this is a very thick folder and required the Thin Die Adapter to be removed
  2. place the embossing folder at an angle on the platform and crank the folder through the machine up to the place you want embossing to end. (going further will emboss the entire paper)
  3. you will now have a flat portion to the embossed panel that will hold a stamped image nicely

For a visual demonstration of this project, take a look at the video I made for this project.

Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card project. Links are here that you can click to get product info and purchase items, at no additional cost to you, as well. Thank you for your support with your purchase 🙂

Making this card was easy and fun. And it has loads of texture that someone will feel in their hand when they open the envelope. Is there a favorite way you like using embossing folders? I would love to see what you are crafting. If you would like to share a photo of your card, email it to me at [email protected]   Can’t wait to see your creations!

BIG THANKS to Rebecca for requesting this demonstration!
