Swan Lake in blue for #GDP070

This week, the Global Design Project challenge is to use a specific design in a cardmaking project. The sketch is clean and simple, which will be easy to fulfill. I have had an idea for some time, to use the Swan Lake stamp set with white embossing and it will fit this sketch very well. To view the cards for this challenge, please visit the Global Design Project page by clicking here

The colors I chose are Soft Sky, Whisper White and Sahara Sand. I started out with the card base made of Sahara Sand (measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) and knew I would use the Soft Sky to hold the stamped images. I stamped with Versa Mark sticky ink, which works well to hold on to the white embossing powder. Once the powder is stuck on to the stamped images, I used the heat gun to melt the powder, which turns into a smooth texture.

Once embossed, I used the water brush and Soft Sky ink pad to add subtle color to the flower images. For the swans, I used the clear Wink of Stella brush to add sparkle highlights to the wings and neck of the swans. This coloring is in keeping with the peaceful mood of this project. I added a fussy cut dragonfly next to the sentiment to give more texture and give a balance to the overall project.

Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card project. Links are here that you can click to get product info and purchase items, at no additional cost to you, as well. Thank you for your support with your purchase 🙂

This is a great stamp set to lend to a low key, simple card or use the colored pencils to make more of a splash. Don’t forget to pop over to the Global Design Project page for my card and all of the other cards made with these colors. Thanks for stopping by!
