Tasty Cupcake Truck using Watercolor Pencils with video

A totally unexpected birthday card may contain the image of a food truck selling cupcakes. At least it certainly would to me. The Tasty Treats stamp set features ways to deck out this truck for a taco truck, pancake truck, ice cream truck and more. My oldest son helped to choose the components for this project and he asked for cupcakes on the truck. Why, of course a five year old would want a cupcake  🙂  And do take notice that the truck has a stripe the same color as Cheetos snack LOL! Another detail from my son.

The card base is made from Thick Whisper White card stock, which is sturdy enough to hold the panels well. I dry embossed a piece of Old Olive card stock and used watercolor paper to stamp the images. To do the stamping for this project, I used Staz-on ink, which is waterproof and permanent. It’s a great choice in stamping on any non-porous surface, such as window sheets, but always make sure to use the Staz-on cleaner because this will ruin a stamp if not taken off properly. I liken it to a Sharpie marker in that it works almost too well at times  🙂

Measurements for this project are:
-Old Olive card stock;  one at  2 1/4″ x 4″ (this paper sits under the embossed piece)   and another cut to   2 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ (this is the one that will be embossed)
-Smoky Slate card stock cut at 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ (to sit under the watercolor card)
-Watercolor paper cut at 2 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ ( I stamped onto the smooth side)
-Basic Black card stock cut at  1″ x 2″

The coloring was made with Watercolor pencils and a water brush. I mixed together some colors to come up with something different. It’s another way to use the pencils to have a different effect. The sentiment was made by heat embossing white embossing powder onto black card stock and set with a heat gun. The fish tail banner was made with a few snips of the scissors.  I set the watercolor paper onto the gray with Snail adhesive and then attached it to the card using Stampin Dimensionals.
