Swan Lake stamps using Watercolor Pencils with video

Are you ready for Watercolor Pencils? Oh and I have the perfect stamps to use them with! Swan Lake stamp set is a lovely group of hand drawn images that work with the pencils to make a great project. Here is my first use of these products.

I used a Sahara Sand card base measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ after scored and folded. To decorate the card front, I used a piece of patterned paper for a layer and Bristol paper to hold the images. On the Bristol paper, I colored this watery scene with the watercolor pencils after stamping them with Basic Black Archival Ink. Using the correct ink to stamp out the images is important when using a good deal of fluid, and to activate the pencils I need to used a Blender Pen or a Waterbrush. For this project, I used a waterbrush after coloring in all of the images.

It’s very easy to use these pencils. You can even color the images and leave them as is, which will give you a different look from watercoloring. Try adding more color by giving a heavy pressure, and the depth of color will intensify. A lighter touch will give you a lighter shade of coloring. Either way, it’s a nice way to create a handmade card to share. For a visual demonstration on using these pencils, check out the link below for a video tutorial.
