So Detailed Thinlits die card project with video

The Occasions, or Spring, Catalog release from Stampin’ Up! is approaching soon. Here is a sneak peek into one of the items that I am excited to share with you. So Detailed Thinlits Dies project ideas are already popping up around the internet. In the video I made, I show you one way to use them to enhance an easy cardmaking project. Making a card that has a large, intricate die is a great chance to keep it simple. Simple card designs are a great way to make in duplicate.

The card stock, patterned paper and ink were selected to coordinate with one another. I used a Sahara Sand card base measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ after scored and folded. To decorate the card front, I used a piece of vanilla card stock and patterned paper. The left side of the card is raised on dimensional adhesive, while the patterned paper is laying directly on the card base. This technique gives a good deal of depth to the look of the card. I used a sentiment from So in Love stamp set, also from the upcoming catalog, to match the free and loose mood to the project.

For the die cut, I used Sahara Sand card stock, same as the card base. The die worked just fine at cutting through the card stock, without the use of a precision base plate. However, Sizzix recommends that the precision base plate be used with this type of die. There is a tab, or margin area, on one side of the die. This section can be adhered to the reverse side of the card stock, be hidden on the back, and allow the die cut to remain secure to the card base and not be seen. Very clever, Stampin’ Up! design team! I can see using this die to cut out the individual flowers and use them for a project.
