Dragonfly cluster thank you card with video

The Occasions, or Spring, Catalog release from Stampin’ Up! is aproaching soon. Here is a sneak peek into one of the items that I feel will be the most popular. Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies projet ideas are already popping up around the internet. In the video I made, I show you one way to use them to enhance an easy cardmaking project. My kids love dragonflies. They are not like butterflies so much, we can hear them buzz by at close range and they are just cool all around. I am very pleased to be able to make projects with a dragonfly and want to stretch my ideas by using these dies.

The card stock, patterned paper and ink were selected to coordinate with one another. I used an Old Olive card base measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ after scored and folded. To decorate the card front, I used a piece of white card stock and patterned paper. The medallion is made from the same, which coordinates with the overall colors and theme. I used a sentiment from All Things Thanks stamp set, also from the upcoming catalog, to match the free and loose mood to the project.

For the die cut, I used Glassine Sheets. They are available now in the Annual Catalog and in the Occasions Catalog there will be Glassine Sheets with a pre printed design. Glassine is easy to work with and is not brittle like vellum. I attached this large die cut to the card using glue dots.

These dragonflies are very easy to use. They can be cut apart to work alone or keep them as a unit and they can fly in chorus. I can not wait to show you the large dies in this set as well. Oh, and a bumble bee! Fun to make and fun for someone to receive! Occasions Catalogs will be mailed out next week, so if you have not contacted me to get your copy, please drop me a note asap.  Lets make it together!

  1. Hello Jenny, this is a great use of Serene Scenery DSP do you know if this paper will be discontinued at the end of the catalog year? Everytime I try to order it, the paper is on backorder. Thanks

    • Hi Gail! I’m glad you like this project and the paper is so versatile. Demonstrators have not yet been given information on the carry over for the AC (Annual Catalog) but I am guessing it will retire. I do not see paper carry over, but instead are new papers released in each AC. This style of patterned paper (DSP) is very on trend. When you take a look at the Occasions Catalog, there is a paper pack included named Falling In Love. It also has the same type of photo realistic look to it as Serene Scenery, except the new one is pictures of fabric. Things like lace, sparkly baby’s breath like used in floral arrangements, tule and that sort of style. It reminds me of babies and weddings. But it is gorgeous. If you do not have a demonstrator, I am happy to send you a catalog. My mailings will go out end of next week. Thanks for stopping by, oh and the mermaid card on your page is too cute! Great job 🙂 -Jenny
