Balloon Adventures with ink blending for #GDP063

This week, the Global Design Project Challenge is all about the theme of Adventure! My first thought was the upcoming stamp set from the 2017 Occasions Catalog; Balloon Adventure.

In the spirit of adventure, I designed a bunch of balloons to fly across a sunny sky. My card base is made from Pacific Point cardstock, measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (standard US card size). The new Party Animal DSP coordinates perfectly for a happy looking card. The card front is made of Thick Whisper White cardstock, perfect for a bit of ink blending to look like a sunny afternoon.

My thoughts with ink blending are simple; a light touch works best. Working in small circles across the paper, I used ink daubers first in orange then in yellow to build up color over the clear embossed sentiment. The areas that are embossed will resist the ink and show up white against the added color.  To give a look of texture, I added water droplets across the paper and quickly soaked them up with a tissue. What is left behind is a splotchy variance of color. They don’t quite look like clouds but almost like a hazy warm afternoon.

I also used ink blending on the balloons. I first blended the ink onto paper and then used the Balloon Punch to pop out one of each color. The white twine string leaves a whimsical look to the overall design.

Here is a list of supplies I used to make this card project. Links are here that you can click to get product info and purchase items as well. Thank you for your support with your purchase 🙂

Thank you for visiting my blog today. Ink blending takes a little practice but once you master the look, I think you will be happy to have another tool in your tool chest. Please be sure to go over to the Global Design Project page and check out all of the great card projects.  In the meantime, I hope you find a simple card design and make it your own.  Lets make it together!

    • Hi Natalie! I’m glad you like this one 🙂 I just check the Occasions Catalog and… YES, it matches up with the large balloon in the Balloon Bouquet Punch. Cool, huh? -Jenny

        • You bet! There is a thinlit die that will come out with this stamp set. It’s really cool and allows you to make a pop-out inside a card. I’m sure pics will be circulating soon 🙂 -Jenny
