Fiesta like there’s no manana… with Miss Llama

Birthdays are a time for a fiesta! Let’s party with a llama!    … a llama? Yep 🙂

I’m not exactly sure why there is a llama in this birthday stamp set, but I am really glad it’s here. There is just something about the

llama that excites my kids and I. It’s a curious choice to place in this stamp set and a curious choice for a card but it makes me happy to see her 🙂 She has a pleasant smile that is open and friendly and my boys just love her.

I stamped onto watercolor paper and heat embossed nearly everything! I knew I wanted to watercolor the background and the image as well, so I set up the scene accordingly. I used clear embossing over the various colored inks and hear set it all at the same time. I love little time savers!

The background and llama were painted using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. They are very easy to use with watercolor paper and a water brush. I first apply a moderate amount of color into the deepest color corner of the area and then pull out the paint with my water brush. Make sure to wipe your water brush in between colors or it will blend. These markers are made to blend well and they will do a great job if you let them. I usually choose a few colors for blending and just have fun coloring. One trick I have learned is that when you apply the color, it will move away with water, however there will be a light mark left behind where you touched the paper. So with this in mind, I try to use fun shapes that will translate well to the finished piece. For example, in the sky portion you will see light curlie-cues and in the grass are patches of grass. Neither are really bold, just subtle shapes and color. Try this trick on your next project to get a cool effect.
