This week’s Paper Chain Gang Challenge is to make a vintage Christmas card. When I first looked at the upcoming stamp set, Thoughtful Branches, the large single pine tree reminded me of an elegant Christmas tree. No doubt this was intended by the designer of the set, as I could not envision a more perfect addition to my Christmas festivities.
The challenge I found in myself for this card was in deciding what I would use to construct my card. Having seen the finished card, I can’t imagine what I was thinking in not using these ingredients. Am I using too much gold? Is the ribbon a good accent or is it too distracting? In the end, I decided that achieving the “vintage” look was what I needed to focus my creativity toward, so I went with the gold and the ribbon.
Using the designer acetate sheets was a dream! They cut easy, they have sparkle and they compliment the gold foil cardstock and gold embossing just the way I like. I used the stamp set, Oh What Fun, for the sentiment and kept with the foil and vellum of the focal image. The Layering Ovals Framelits were great for cutting the gold foil, as I nested both pieces together and zipped them through my Big Shot.
Check out the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and Beautiful Branches Framelits, as they are available starting August 2nd through 31st. What a great item to put your Bonus Days Coupons toward!
Here are the main supplies I used to make my card. The stamps are not on the list, as they will be available to order on August 2nd, under this item number: 144328 Thoughtful Branches Bundle (stamps & dies)
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope we can make it together!
